I can't believe Tressa is in preschool. My little girl is growing up so fast! She started last Tuesday and is LOVING it. She was so excited for her first day. We had been talking about it and looking forward to it for months and I was a little worried that after all that build up she would be disappointed. What if school turned out to be different than she imagined? I was also a little nervous about us being separated for such a long stretch of time (she goes twice a week from 9:30 to 2:30). I tried to prepare her the night before. I told her what the schedule would be like and I warned her that some of the kids might be a little sad or nervous about being away from their parents.....(I didn't want her to lose it if she saw some other kids having a hard time). She interupted me and confidently said "But I won't have to worry about it because Daddy gave me a blessing [she felt so special getting her first back-to-school blessing]. I'll just give them a hug and tell them their Mommy will be back." Needless to say, she handled the whole thing like a pro and I didn't need to worry. Even though she's only 3 I think she was really ready for this. She loves learning, making friends and feeling all grown up. I am so proud of her...and she's pretty proud of herself too.
I think little bro had the hardest time of all of us with sissy going to school. He threw a major fit that morning and he tried to sneak into all the pictures I took of her (like this one). He was probably a little jealous of all the extra attention she was getting, but I think part of him was also sad to not have her around. Is he trying to give her bunny ears?
Don't worry Corby, you'll get your turn and your sissy loves you. After her first day Tressa came home and said "When Corbin is big enough to go to school he won't even have to worry because I will be there just in case. I can help him and show him what to do since I have already been to school." (Yes...she really does talk like that.)
My proud new preschooler:
Here's Tressa and her friend Maddy looking really excited for their first day:
After Tressa told me all about her first day on the way home I asked her if she felt like she needed a nap. She said "No, I rested during nap time at school." (They get like 30 minutes for rest/nap time toward the end of the day.) But I think she was a little more worn out than she thought. Here she is a couple hours later asleep in the La-Z-Boy. So precious.
