I'm using this blog to keep my family and friends updated on the happenings of our lives. This blog is also helping me keep track of family events and milestones so that we don't lose all the precious memories we've created together.
4/4/09: The other day I heard Tressa correct Corbin's grammar. It was such a cute little conversation they had. We were going down the stairs and Tressa and Corbin were jumping the last couple steps. Tressa did it first and then Corbin said "Me can do it too!" Tressa turned around and said "No Corbin. Say 'I' not 'me'." To which he responded "Me can't say 'I' hee hee (sissy)." She smirked and said "You just did, Corbin."
11/8/08: This morning I heard Tressa trying to play with Corbin. She was dressed up in her Little Mermaid costume and she told Corbin he could be the prince. The next thing I heard was "No Corbin, princes don't throw chalk!"
11/8/08: Last night Tressa didn't seem very interested in eating her dinner. I asked if she was being a picky eater. She said "Well, I'm not a picky eater...I just only like to try the foods who look yummy!"
9/1/08: Tressa is getting really excited about preschool and it seems she's been practicing her letters to get ready. She loves to point out a word and tell me what letter it starts with, but she always gets it backwards. "Mommy, did you know that T starts with Tressa..... L starts with lollipop....." It's really cute. And sometimes she'll say a word and ask me what it starts with, then when I give her the answer she says "Is it a little c or a big C?" I never know what to tell her because I don't think she's quite ready for capitalization rules!
7/10/08: I've been noticing lately that Tressa says "am n't I" instead of "aren't I"....... "I am such a good eater am n't I Mommy!" I usually don't correct her because it makes me laugh and it's just so cute.
7/10/08: Today at the ducky pond Tressa was dancing around being silly. She said "Mom, did you like the special song I sang to the baby duckies? It came from my spirit!"
6/9/08: Today we were in the grocery store and I remembered that I needed to get some cash. The bank was closed so I told Tressa we'd have to use the ATM. She stared at the ATM for a few minutes looking very confused and said "But Mom, does it have any suckers?"
6/2/08: Today me and Tressa were talking about Jason's brithday coming up next week. She asked me how old I am. I said "twenty seven." She said "Wow! That's a lot of old. I can't wait until I'm a grownup....then I won't have to worry about you telling me no."
5/28/08: Tressa hasn't been feeling well the past few days, so we've had some extra down time. Today we were cuddling on the couch watching a movie. Our feet were touching and I noticed her staring at them. She turned to me and said "Mama, you have HUGE feet don't you!" I just laughed and said "Yes, especailly compared to you!"
5/21/08: Tressa loves getting her nails painted (and painting mine too)! This morning we were painting each others nails and she was cracking me up because she kept saying "pail nolish". I've heard her say it the right way before, but this morning she was going on and on about the pail nolish. "Daddy is going to love my pail nolish huh Mommy, but he won't like it if Corbin has pail nolish because pail nolish is only for girls, not for boys, huh Mommy, but I get to wear pail nolish because I'm a girl and I will look so beautiful......" and on and on she goes. She's quite a chatter box sometimes.
Kids Say (and Do) the Darndest Things!
Corbin, 4
Here's the latest....
5/24/09: Corbin is really into the Cars movie lately. He has the video, some books, a car mat, and some of the cars from the movie. Sometimes he likes to pretend to be a race car too. It's so funny though because he can never just say "I'm Lightning McQueen" when he's playing cars. Instead it's "I'm Lightning-McQueen-famous-race-car-faster-than-fast-I-am-speed-ka-chow!" He doesn't really say his s's or r's yet....so add that into the mix and it's pretty hilarious!
4/4/09: Corbin has been suprisingly sweet to baby Xander. The other day he was holding him with Daddy and said "Me lub you baby brodder. You know dat?"
1/29/09: Tressa and Corbin like to play Little Mermaid in the bathtub sometimes. Corbin loves taking baths and he won't get out until all of the water is down the drain. One night he was being especially slow about getting out. the tub was empty and he was laying on the bottom. I said "Come on buddy it's time to get out!" To which he replied "Me a mermaid, me hab no legs!"
1/29/09: Last night we went out to dinner. After Corbin finished eating he said "Please Momma, hold me....my legs are broken." It was so funny. (Sometimes when he's being clingy and wants me to carry him I ask "Why Bud...are your legs broken?")
1/29/09: The other night after getting the kids down to bed Jason and I had started watching a show and were snacking on some nachos when we heard Corbin's little voice calling, "Mommy...I poopy." I went in to change him. I leaned in to give him a kiss and when he got a whiff of my breath he said "I mell chips Momma!" He caught me...I just giggled and told him I was having a bedtime snack. After I got him back in bed and tried to turn his lamp off he said "No Mommy, I goin to read." I told him that it was time to go to bed. He smiled and said "I wud dus teasing you Mommy. Night night."
1/29/09: Corbin is a little chatterbox these days, but sometimes I can't quite understand what he's saying. He'll say the same thing over and over. I try to repeat it back to him. Then he sighs and says "Nutting (nothing), nutting Mommy". He also says that when he's about to get caught doing something he knows he shouldn't do.
11/8/08: Corbin hasn't been sleeping well again the past several days. So last night before bedtime I had a little talk with him and asked him to try to sleep all the way til morning with no fussing. Apparently he had a similar conversation with Jason earlier. He furrowed his little brows and said "Daddy ahheddy tell me."
11/5/08: I pointed out a large group of birds flying through the sky to Corbin and said "Wow. Look at all those birds. Where do you think they are going?" He said, "to Wal-Mart!"
11/5/08: The other day Corbin pushed Tressa. I asked him to say sorry and he said "No. Run away. I run away with wubby (blankie)." and he took off.
9/15/08: Corbin's phrase of the week has been "See dat, Daddy/Mommy?" He'll run, jump, dive, or just do something silly and then (wanting to make sure we were watching) he'll say "See dat?"
